When clothing doesn’t fit, it is uncomfortable. We learn to ignore it. Like a mediocre relationship, we endure. Resigned to poor fit, we settle. Maybe our pants fit our thighs but not our waist. We buy them anyway. We take them home, hope that it will be better this time. It isn’t. The garment pinches, slips up, slips down, twists, bags, or binds. Familiar disappointment. No wonder we waste clothing.

Step Into the Pleasure of a Garment Made for You!
Having a garment made especially for you is an incredible gift to yourself. You will have an amazing garment that will fit you and will wear beautifully for years.
We customize your garment & take measurements

Assess your relationship to clothes
We will figure out what you like and what clothing issues drive you a little crazy! We will identify your preferred silhouette.
Take your measurements:
I’ll take your measurements and then do some crazy math to create a pattern that is your second skin. This is called a MOULAGE.
Adjust garment features:
We’ll identify any changes you may want, so the garment enhances your silhouette. For example, you may prefer longer sleeves, a wider pant, or a shorter jacket.
Select Fabric:
We will discuss the fabric you want and the best way to procure it. Fabric can be purchased from local fabric stores or online.
Regeneration of your own clothes is also an option for some garments!
When We Meet Again:
I will have constructed your MOULAGE which is a bodice and/or pant made of inexpensive muslin. It is your second skin, so it will fit you VERY snuggly!
Then we fit you in a “SECOND SKIN” called a Moulage

Try on your second skin MOULAGE. We’ll make a few tucks here and there so it fits just right.
It is too tight to actually wear, because I need your exact dimensions. This is a very picky step, because it ensures that your finished garment is constructed from your exact dimensions.
When We Meet Again:
I will have constructed a SLOPER. This is a modified version of the MOULAGE that has ease calculated into it so that you can move a little when you have it on.
I will also have created a TOILE of the garment you selected. A TOILE is a mockup of your garment sewn in muslin. We use the TOILE to make all the adjustments necessary, before drafting the actual garment in the fabric of your choice.
We add ease for the perfect Pattern (called a SLOPER)

Try on the SLOPER which is a 3-D pattern of you! So cool. This 3-D pattern ensures that the garment I make for you fits your precise measurements.
This SLOPER can also be used to create any garment that you may want in the future. So this elaborate fitting process is only necessary once!
There is ease in the SLOPER, so that you can move a little when you have it on. Ease is a little extra room in specific areas where your body bends and moves, such as the shoulder, waist, or hip.

Fit your TOILE
Try on the TOILE (mockup) of the garment you selected.
We will be able to see if the style choices we made for you actually look the way we imagined. We can make changes as necessary. We will also make adjustments to the fit to improve how it activates on your body. That means, we want the garment to move with you!
When We Meet Again:
I will have created your GARMENT in the fabric of your choice!
We use the SLOPER to create your fitted GARMENT

Try on the actual garment. So exciting! I might make a few minor changes to improve the fit. Small changes to the position of a dart or the drop of the shoulder might make all the difference.
Sometimes these changes take time outside of our appointment, so we may meet more than once before I deliver the final garment to you.
